There are 23 species of whales (cetaceans) that are known to be found living in the seas around Iceland. But whales are not alone in our northern waters.  The abundance of nutrients and food in the cold waters around our shores give the marine life a chance to flourish. Sea birds in the millions, puffins, skuas, arctic terns and many more rule the island and the skies above the seas. Seals frolic and relax like only seals can and the strange basking sharks are sometimes glimpsed.

Summer (May – August) is the peak season to explore the ocean and search for most marine life, and this is when we run our RIB tours. The winter months have also been very productive, and we run tours at that time in our bigger boats. Winter tours come with the added bonus of beautiful snow capped mountains, sun setting skies and opportunities, from other tours, to see the incredible Northern Lights
