Our Story

In 2006, we were proud to be the first small group whale watching company in Iceland with our fleet of RIBs. Our offerings, boats and service centre has changed a lot over the years, as you can see below.

In 2015 Torfi G Yngvason and Rannveig Grétarsdóttir of Elding Adventure at Sea bought the company and took over the reigns. Mr. Yngvason has worked in the outdoor guiding industry for his entire adult life, having founded top tourism companies in Iceland such as Arctic Adventures, Arctic Rafting, Reykjavík Sightseeing and Airport Direct. Ms. Grétarsdóttir is one of the owners of Elding Adventure at Sea, a family-owned company providing quality whale watching and sea adventure tours since 2000. Our partnership with Elding Whale Watching has enabled Whale Safari to offer year-round operations, utilising both smaller RIBs and larger Classic Boats, and top sea experiences for all.

Whale Safari began with a keen and real passion for wildlife, boats and people. In our mind, whale and puffin watching tours are a great way to unite these interests while giving both locals and foreign visitors the fantastic opportunity to witness Iceland's incredible marine life.
