00 - The sea was a bit rough as we headed out into the bay after a brief visit to the puffins in Akurey. The sea conditions gradually improved and after a while we were rewarded when we saw a humpback whale.  It surfaced many times including several times close to the boat and offered some good sightings!

Crew: Captain Pedro & Guide Trausti

00 - The swell made our journey out into the bay very bumpy, but this just added to the fun! We had heard from other captains that there were a couple of areas that might have humpbacks. Unfortunately, after searching for a long time we didn't see any. We did manage to see 2 minke whales, however these sightings were very quick and so when we got back to the harbour all our passengers were offered complimentary tickets to come again on a Classic tour.

00 - The swell was still high this afternoon as we headed out whale watching. We travelled far into the bay, but this time we had more luck! First we found a pod of around 7 white-beaked dolphins. We were able to see them quite clearly among the swell. As there were quite a few boats around, we decided to head off and search another area. As we got closer, we could see more and more gannets diving into the water. This is a great sign that there is plenty of fish! We waited, hopeful that a whale might be under the waves also feeding on these fish. Our patience paid off, there was a humpback whale! We were very lucky and whale fed really close to our boat, we saw it feeding on its side and it was close enough to see its white fins through the water! A great way to end a bumpy tour!

00 - Sea conditions were again a bit bumpy in the afternoon. After searching the bay for a fairly long time we came to an area with a number of seabirds on the water. We slowed down and waited and soon we saw both a minke whale surfacing and the blow of a humpback whale. We also saw some harbour porpoises close to the boat. The animals were elusive and before long we ran out of tima and had to return to harbour. Because of the poor sightings all passengers were offered complementary tickets.
