Whale Safari Guides

Whale Safari Guides

Species seen today: minke whale, humpback whale, white-beaked dolphin, harbour porpoise

Conditions in the morning were good with calm seas and a light breeze. On the way out of Faxafloi Bay we caught glimpses of harbour porpoises and then large pods of very active white-beaked dolphins. Further out there were numerous Minke whales feeding and we were able to watch some majestic humpback whales. Some of our guests were lucky enough to see these fantastic marine mammals breaching, propelling almost their entire 40 tonne bodies out of the water. Spectacular! In the afternoon the wind started picking up but sightings were just as good with plenty of feeding whales in the area. Fantastic day on the water with our passengers getting to see all four of our most common species in Faxafloi Bay, as well as the small but mighty and numerous Atlantic puffin!
