10:00 - The skies were grey and the seas were rough this morning, but the serenity of today´s whales made up for the bumpy ride ahead as in total we saw 2 minke whales and 6 humpback whales! First we encountered a humpback, this individual was travelling quite fast so after 2 surface sequences we moved onwards and a bit later we found a minke whale that we managed to stay wit briefly. After that, a trio of humpback whales was swimming very slowly side by side, clearly taking their moment of rest in this busy feeding season. We stayed with them for a while as they stayed at the surface for a long time. After that, we found another pair of humpbacks, first they moved very calm as well, but after some time they started to take very clear interest in our boat! They came incredibly close and we even managed to see 2 spyhops! This was an absolutely thrilling encounter and we stayed with these whales until we had to start making our way back to harbour. After that, a second minke and a stop at the puffin island concluded our trip today.
