10:00 - The sun was shining brightly over the calm bay today. After some scanning of various parts of Faxaflói, we found a minke whale in an area with a few more individuals and also white-beaked dolphins! All the animals were a bit elusive, but we were able to see them come up for some nice moments. Our last sighting was the best one, when a pod of young white-beaked dolphins became very curious about our boats and came super close! A wonderful ending to the tour on this beautiful day.

12:00 - The wind had picked up a bit as we started our sail in the bay. Nothing bad, but still a bit of swell as we navigated around. It took us quite a bit to find an area where we could see a lot of birds feeding. When we did, we navigated slowly through it and saw minke whales ! There was a lot in this area, at least a good 10, cruising around, appearing and disappearing as we were navigating through waves. 2 times we ended up seeing them appearing surprisingly close to us. After quite a while in this area observing minkes and getting a few splashes, we headed back, a bit wet but under the sun and still happy, toward the harbour.

14:00 - We set out in search of cetaceans on this amazing day. The sea conditions were rough but nothing could stop us from trying to see whales! After half an hour we finally found our first cetacean, a minke whale feeding alone but it turns out it wasn't! We had at least 4 minke whales in the area. They came really close to us and we could see the white patches on their pectoral fins! We could see more birds gathering in the same area and we spotted another minke feeding there and a weird head.. it was a harbour seal that appeared 10 meters from us! Spectacular! We then headed back to the harbour, the sea conditions weren't the best, but we still went to see the puffins on Akurey to warm our hearts even more! A nice day in the bay!
