Species seen today: Humpback Whales, minke whales, white-beaked dolphins.

10:00 - Unfortunately we had to cancel the 10:00 with short notice. This was with the advisement of the Classic Whale Watching (Large vessel) Captain that was already out on the bay. We are sorry for the inconvenience

14:00 - The wind and swell had finally calmed enough for us to head out. It was a very difficult start with the wildlife however. We found 3 white-beaked dolphins that where difficult to approach and moving super fast in all directions, making them very hard to follow. It was soon that we lost them and went searching for more life. It wasn´t until the end of the tour another RIB boat saw a humpback whale and another pod of about 6-8 white-beaked dolphins that were definitely in a much friendlier mood and they come to us and played around our boat for a little while. We enjoyed their company whilst we waited for the humpback to surface again and after 6 minutes since the last dive, which we were too far away to see, she was up and close by too. We were able to recognise this whale as Neila a very well know individual in the bay. A slow start but a wonderful finish.

16:00 - We were able to add this tour on as the weather and sea state was good and a few passengers from the cancelled 10am could be moved to this later tour. We headed straight back to the area we saw Neila the humpback whale on the last tour. Soon a large pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins caught our attention, leaping huge out the water and splashing the surface. We had a great time with them as they played around the boat, bow-riding and leaping. They were very hard to leave but we wanted to search for the humpback. We searched the area thoroughly but no sign. It was a long time then before we saw anything else. We searched a large area but no luck. One animal we did find, and very strange to do so, was a puffling. A baby puffin. A very strange encounter as we hadn´t seen a puffin for over a month now and this is very late in the season to see them. Wildlife is wonderful and always surprising. We motored back to the area we had the dolphins and found a minke whale that surfaced twice and the dolphins again that we stayed with again for a little whale. It was a beautiful evening out on the calm Faxaflói Bay.
