Species seen today: humpback whale, white-beaked dolphin, minke whale, harbour porpoise

Another glorious day in Faxafloi began with perfectly flat seas and blue skies. We headed north west in the morning to explore areas with a great history of wildlife sightings and came across a couple of minke whales and harbour porpoises scattered this section of the bay. Both species would maintain their distance from the boats but provided more than adequate viewing opportunities in the calm waters. On minke whale did come very however, as it surfaced within 10 metres of our vessel. We immediately stopped and switched our engines off to enjoy the sights with only the sounds of nature. The afternoon tour had more sightings with white-beaked dolphins and a humpback whale being seen. The humpback was seen rolling on its back and lifting its pectoral fins from the water before slapping them down. It soon switched into more typical behaviours, surfacing calmly and lifting the fluke upon diving.
