Whale Diary

11:00 - This morning we left a calm sunny harbour and headed straight into the wild ocean! It was a true adventure with a sudden hail cloud and also rainbows at the same time! Just when the hail/rain stopped we came across three humpback whales! This was such a special and magical moment as its quite rare to have three together and then one of them would not stop pec-slapping! There was definitely 2 bigger ones and one little one. We stayed as long as could watching in awe as it just continued slapping, and one very slow peduncle throw! We started sailing back home and between the islands found another friendly minke whale! We got a good look at it and then headed back home! Just as we were getting back, we were once more greeted by hail!

14:00 - This time we had sunny skies at sea as well and were excited for our tour! We tried to find the minke close by again. Some people were able to quickly spot it, but it was bit more elusive this time. So we headed out into the bay, there was a bit more swell but we took it easy and made out way in. After a bit of a sail, we found one humpback whale! This whale started calm and then suddenly started breaching and pec slapping! It took turns doing both and it was absolutely breath taking! We stayed as long as we could before having the head home!
