Whale Diary

10:00 - Another great day, another great tour! The sky was beautiful as we left the marina, and soon enough, we had the first sightings! A small pod of harbour porpoises, around 6, being very playful, as in the last days. We stayed with them for some time, and we moved on. We eventually found 4 minke whales, and 2 humpback whales. One of them was Davy Jones! As usual, Davy marveled us with its fluke and active behaviour, and the passengers took great photos. Very successful tour!

13:00 - Fantastic afternoon tour! We found 3 humpback whales. First we found two of them together, swimming in a very relaxed manner, glistening beautifully in the sun every time they came to the surface. Next we went for a wider sail to see what we could find, and we spotted many harbour porpoises, around 15 of them, around 7 minke whales, and one more humpback whale, our dear friend Davy Jones! Davy came really close at one point, going for a fluke dive just next to the boat. It was incredible.

15:00 - This afternoon was still beautiful weather and we headed out into the bay optimistic after an amazing day. The first cetacean we found was a humpback whale - Davy Jones II! We were able watch multiple times as he swam slowly through the water, coming close to use a few times. We then decided to move on and look for other things and found our first white-beaked dolphins of the day! It was a pod of around 5-6 individuals spread out over a larger area but 3 of them were a little more social and came closer to us. They were heading towards Davy Jones II so we went ahead of them, hopeful that they would maybe annoy him or play with him. However, when we got there, the dolphins never arrived. We were far from disappointed though because Davy was on top form! After swimming around us a little he started logging right next to our boat, facing us but not moving at the surface. Then he came up right next to us and started spy hopping! It was amazing! After that he swam around the front of our boat and showed off with a high fluke dive into the sunset. An incredible way to end the tour and the day!
