Species seen today: humpback whale, Minke whale

Conditions were a little choppy with an easterly wind but despite generally overcast conditions and a few drops of rain, the sun did shine on occasion! The sea state improved further out in to Faxafloi Bay. In the morning we were greeted to the sight of a Minke whale which surfaced several times in the area of our boat. This was the first Minke some of our guides have seen this season. There were several humpbacks out in the Bay. Our guests were able to watch these magnificent creatures and got some great fluke action when the whales were diving. In the afternoon, we also had two Minkes circling close to one of our boats giving some fantastic views of these smaller Rorqual whales. As usual, the Atlantic puffins were out in force with the skies around Akurey island very busy indeed.
