Whale Diary

10:00 - Today, we were faced with a lot of rain in and around Reykjavík but that doesn't stop us! The whales don't mind either! There was also some wind today so our passengers were able to have a authentic Icelandic experience on the rougher seas. After leaving the harbour, we stopped at Engey to get a look at some of the adorable puffins that have arrived for the summer. There are lots of them around now so it was easy to see them hanging out by their burrows and flying past us. Once we had spent some time with them, we continued further out and sailed into Hvalfjörður. It was still bumpy in the fjord and the wind was creating some white caps on the waves so this makes spotting the whales a little more tricky. We kept going deeper and deeper into the fjord and soon got to the area where other whale watching boats had seen some whales earlier. We caught glimpses of a blow every now and then so we knew there was a humpback whale in the area but with the weather conditions, and the whale behaving elusively, we didn't manage to get a good look. When we got back to the harbour, our passengers were therefore all offered complimentary tickets to come again on a Classic tour for free.
