00 - We headed out on a calm sea. A dorsal fin showed up and with a closer investigation this turned out to be a minke whale. However, two more appeared. They showed up a couple of times and let everyone aboard see them. The voyage continued further out were we had spotted blows. Here we had 3 humpback whales together. They were all resting, possibly tired from all the feeding they have done. Two minke whales were also around. After spending some time with the humpbackl whales we wanted to see a bit more activity, so we headed to two other blows in the distance. These individuals were resting too! We went further to two more humpback whales. They were moving around a bit and displayed their fluke for us which was lovely, as well as getting close to the boat, letting us see the gorgeous white pectorial fins. We saw many more blows and dorsal fins in the distance but it was simply too hard to keep count. We don't complain! A beautiful day out at sea.

00 - We set sail into Faxaflói on this sunny day, eager to search for whales. Our adventure began with a stop at Akurey, where we spotted some charming puffins before heading deeper into the bay. About half an hour later, we saw two blows — humpback whales! They resurfaced right next to us, moving slowly and gracefully. In the distance, we noticed a few more blows, so we followed the clues — and the birds — and soon found another pair of humpbacks, feeding and fluking beautifully. We made a quick stop and were treated to a speedy minke whale darting past! Then, while watching yet another humpback, two curious harbour porpoises zipped by us, fast but playful. What a fantastic day out at sea!

00 - The sun was shining and our spirits were high! We started off the sightings record with seeing a minke whale. It was getting fairly close to the boat. As we turned around 3 harbour porpoises appeared out of nowhere. They displayed quite curious behaviour and investigated our boat intensely. We continued further out where we had seen activity already. As we got closer we could determine that this was humpback whales. And not one, but three! They were swimming closely in a group and their size and presence impressed everyone on board. In the back of the boat, two more joined in and at this point it was hard to divide the attention! We also had a minke whale close by. Our boat went further out to where we had spotted blows. Two more humpback whales appeared, and one was even doing peduncle throws on the way there a couple of times! These ones were quite curious. We heard rumors about a mother and calf and wanted to check it out. Accidentally we found a solitary individual on the way there, that did very nice fluke dives. Finally we saw a tiny pectorial fin next to a big one and it had to be the iconic duo. The calf started showing off with peduncle throws and rolling around, putting pectorial fins in the air too. This was too cute to be true. We saw so much more activity around but we had to start heading back at this point. Absolutely wonderful tour with very happy passengers and crew!

00 - What a gorgeous sunny day to be out at sea! We set sail into Faxaflói, excited to see what we could find. First, we made a quick stop at Akurey to check out the puffins — they were everywhere, flying around and hanging out on the rocks. Then we headed into the bay, and after about half an hour… we spotted some blows — humpback whales! They came up really close to us, moving nice and slow so we could take it all in. Not long after, we saw even more blows further out, and found another two humpbacks, feeding and showing off their beautiful flukes one of them even showed it's pectoral fin. We had whales all around us! We even spotted a super fast minke whale zipping past! And while we were watching another humpback, some harbour porpoises came by! All in all, an awesome day out on the water!

00 - We left the harbour for our final tour of the day under a cloudy sky, with a bit of swell, but that didn’t stop us! Spirits were high as we sailed further out to sea, scanning the horizon. About 45 minutes later, we spotted our first sign of wildlife: a huge splash in the distance! We moved fast toward the area, and as we approached, we kept seeing even bigger splashes — and then, there it was: a whale breaching, closer and closer! Suddenly, right next to our boat, a whale leapt out of the water — a minke whale! Fantastic! The minke kept breaching again and again, and at one point we realized there wasn’t just one whale — there were two minke whales breaching right in front of us! It was an amazing display. We edged closer to one of the whales, and to our amazement, it took an interest in us! It circled our boat at super close range, rolling playfully in the water. We could see its white belly just under the surface and the beautiful white patches on its pectoral fins. Then the second whale joined in! The two minkes came right up to us, swimming together, giving us an unforgettable show — at one point even belly-bumping our boat gently as if to say hello! Out in the distance, we spotted a third whale breaching, but soon it was time to turn back toward the harbour. As we sailed home, we waved goodbye to our wonderful minke whales after such an incredible encounter. What a way to end the day!
