Whale Diary

09:00 - The sea was flat as a mirror, the sun was shining like a diamond and the wind was soft as a pillow. The conditions were perfect. We went out and tried to find some whales. 10 harbor porpoises were the ones that visited us along the tour. They were nice and greeted us a few times. The landscape was beautiful and we gave out complimentary tickets to our lovely guests.

12:00 - We went out in beautiful weather conditions - the sun was shining, the sea was calm. Luckily we saw harbor porpoises right in the beginning and also every now and then different pods of them. One of these pods was 9 individuals strong. As the tour went on we could admire the landscape of Iceland. It was when we already were on our way back, when we found a pod of around 50 white-beaked dolphins. They were traveling towards Grotta the lighthouse. Beautiful to see them travel like that. So the tour ended with a beautiful encounter. :)

15:00 - The conditions were still really nice and we had heard about 2 humpback whales quite far out in the bay, so we made our way straight there. It took us some time to get there, but then the reward was great! The humpback whales were surfacing quite a lot and one time they came up lunge feeding. After that they turned and came towards our boat and then dove down. That was amazing ! They also showed us their fluke 2 times. But all good things must come to an end, so we had to make our way back home - with happy guests and happy crew. :)
