Species seen today: White-beaked Dolphins

10:00 - It was quite an adventure this morning in those rough conditions. We had strong winds coming from the east and rain when we left the harbour. The rain got weaker during the tour and we took a route that was the dryest as possible, going toward land and getting the wind from the back. We explored many areas but it's only toward the end of the tour that we could spot a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins. They were elusive, difficult to approach because they were often diving and changing direction, maybe to catch some fish. We gave complimentary tickets to our passengers.

14:00 - This time the weather was much better with less wind, especially in the west of the bay. We did not need to look for long before finding a first pod of 4-6 white-beaked dolphins. They did not seem curious but we could still observe them well. We then moved to another area and found a second similar pod of dolphins. We went a bit more south and found our third pod of the tour, this time 8 white-beaked dolphins showing curious and playful behaviour. We stayed longer with those lovely dolphins that were sometimes jumping, following the boat, bow-riding, appearing close to us. There seem to be at least 2 young individuals that were the most playful, with their careful mother always close by. We visited more deeply the south but as we could not find any more cetaceans, we went back to the harbour.
