Species seen today: humpback whale, minke whale, white-beaked dolphins

Conditions improved as the day grew longer with the wind dropping in speed and smoothing the oceans surface. All tours were successful in regards to locating and watching multiple cetacean species with minkes and humpbacks ever-present. The most special moments came on the 1400 departure as two humpbacks were found feeding side by side beneath a flock of noisy Arctic terns. The whales repeatedly surfaced with mouths agape, gobbling on a mass of small fish. We saw their beautiful flukes lift high from the water as they returned to hunt out of sight. Their behaviour remained unchanged for the duration we were there. On earlier trips a few white-beaked were also seen within Faxafloi. The minkes on all tours moved silently through the water, piercing the surface snout first before moving on.
