Whale Diary

10:00 - On this lovely sunny day we started off by heading to Akurey to look at the puffins here. We got to see some billing and even a pair mating! After this we moved on towards Hvalfjöður where the cetaceans have been hanging out the last few days. Upon arriving we saw 2 harbour porpoises swimming around before seeing a big blow closer to the land, it was a humpback whale! We watched it for a bit as it regularly came up, never taking too long under the water. It showed the fluke a lot too which was really cool! On our way back we saw another 6 porpoises

14:00 - We headed out with beautiful weather. The sun was shining a fresh breeze around our noses, the sea calm. Our destination: Hvalfjörður. A good call, because we saw whales earlier this morning there and also on this tour we saw them ! A really nice Humpback Whale was travelling alongside us, but also changed directions every now and then, so we had to guess where he's coming up next. It was a really nice tour, that had to end at one point, because we ran out of time. The nice goodbye fluke of the Humpback made up wor it though. :)
