Whale Diary

10:00 - What a great start of the day for us. First we spent some time with the puffins at Akurey and the passengers could get really close to them and see them at home. Next we drove to where we had been successful yesterday, and a bit further, we found 3 humpback whales! We spent equal amounts of time with each of them, and it was really nice as the whales were very relaxed, with one, which we call Rasta, coming very close to the boat. At moments it seemed as if it was having a nap, so relaxed it seemed. The experience was magical and the weather was still great, with lots of sun.

12:00 - The wind had picked up quite a lot this afternoon, so we were prepared for a bumpy ride. Once we got out into the bay, however, it wasn't too rough and we were able to find 4 humpback whales. They were spread over a wide area but they were all feeding. Each individual came up to the surface multiple times for us and all showed off their tails when they went for a deep dive. One of the whales came quite close to our boat a few times and we could even smell its breath!
