10:00 -  It was a windy morning, but the waves were not so high due to northeasterly winds. We quickly encountered a pod of white-beaked dolphins who were milling and inspecting the boat. They stayed with us for a nice time and were very active; sometimes jumping out of the water, occasionally spyhopping, and coming very close to us. We then moved to another area, but we didn´t find other species. There were lots of dolphins that accompanied us along the way, but we soon ran out of time and had to head back to Reykjavík.

14:00 - The conditions remained the same during the afternoon, but it seemed that the cetaceans had decided to go somewhere else. We scanned all areas where whales and dolphins had been spotted recently, but there was no blow in sight anywhere. Surprisingly, on the way back one of the RIBs encountered a minke whale just by the buoy of Akurey! We could watch the animal for one surfacing sequence, but after a few breaths she dove down and stayed under for a long time again. Still, we would have liked to see a bit more of the beautiful whales of Iceland, so we offered everyone complimentary tickets to visit Faxaflói again on the classic whale watching boat.
