20:00 - This evening, we set out onto the bay, with the setting sun sparkling on the waves ahead. We first stopped at the island of Akurey to admire the Atlantic puffins, very busy feeding their little pufflings in the burrows, as we saw most of them with long, juicy sand eels hanging from their bills. Once we'd had our fill of these adorable, goofy little birds, we headed out deeper into the bay in hopes of spotting some cetaceans. The setting sun had painted the sky a pastel orange, and we got to see the two peninsulas bordering Faxaflói bay, Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes. We got to see Snæfellsjökull painted a deep orange ahead as we tried to head north in search of some whales. We stopped to admire the scenery and the seabirds, as we had a very curious little Northern fulmar checking us out, and we were of course very happy to see some more Atlantic puffins foraging out in the bay. Although there were quite a few flocks of seabirds around, unfortunately we saw no sign of cetaceans. With the setting sun behinds us, and beautiful, soft, pastel clouds ahead, we began heading back, admiring Reykjavík in the golden light. As we didn't get to show the bay in all its glory, we handed out complimentary tickets to our lovely passengers, so that they may come back and see these cetaceans another day.
