Species seen today: White-beaked Dolphins

10:00 - It was sunny in Faxafloi this morning but very cold. The wind coming from the east was building up in the fjords making the sea choppy at times. We went towards the north and Akranes at first taking advantage of the mountains to get shelter from the wind and kept going towards the west with the wind in our back, avoiding to get too wet. We had a glimpse of a harbour porpoise on the way out and again on the way back. The main sighting of the tour were 3-4 white-beaked dolphins that were coming sometimes under the boat but not staying for long and always moving to an area to another making it difficult to follow. A juvenile in the group did a few jumps showing off some acrobatic skills and falling in splashes. We moved then towards the south hoping we would see more. We stopped once because we sighted a dark dorsal fin coming out of the water but we never found it again. We went back to the harbour and gave our passengers complimentary tickets.
