10:00 - This morning we headed out under quite some cloud cover, but well suited up in warm layers and cozy overalls, the cold Icelandic summer temperatures would not stop us from trying to spot some wildlife. First, we made a stop by the island of Engey to observe the ever so adorable Atlantic puffins. They were everywhere!, calmly floating around us on the surface, and stomping around on the island. After some time here, and lots of photographs, we changed direction further out to try and find some whales. We spotted several groups of seabirds flocking around, which was a good sign of plenty of fish below. We had a good search around, often stopping to observe the beautiful seabird-life, but unfortunately the winds and waves picked up a little bit more than we had hoped, making it difficult to scout further out into the bay. As there were no whales sighted in the areas closer to the city, everyone was given complimentary tickets to try their luck again on a calmer day. The ever so reliable puffins however charmed us all, so we made a stop by another breeding island, the island of Akurey, to marvel at their cuteness for just a little bit longer.
