20:00 - The sea was perfectly calm tonight - unlike the cetaceans swimming in it, who were very active. We aimed for a large flock of birds, hoping to see something else swimming underneath them, and before we knew it we saw a Humpback Whale! One humpback turned into two, and in the distance we saw a third whale. While we scanned the water to see where the next one would come up, a fourth individual came to say hello very close to the boat. Extremely close, even. All these whales were feeding, some of them lungefeeding above the water, with fish flying out of their mouths and arctic terns trying to catch the leftovers. One individual even breached three times! What an incredible day out on Faxaflói bay.
