10:00 - On this cloudy and (slightly) rainy morning, we ventured out to sea with an almost flat sea, allowing for a smooth sailing experience. We made a quick stop at Engey island, at the start of the trip, where our passengers could see puffins and various other bird species which would be around throughout the tour like fulmars and kittiwakes. We then set course to deeper waters, and eventually found a humpback whale. It was doing long dives, meaning we had to be patient and wait while the animal was underwater. However, we saw it surface a couple of times, before moving on with our trip. Eventually, we saw a second humpback, this time an individual who was surfacing more often, and doing plenty of shallow and deep dives. The whale was near a seamount where birds and fishing vessels were present, so it likely was feeding when we found it. The tour overall was a very pleasant experience, and we returned back to Reykjavík with a boat full of happy people!
