Species seen today: Humpback whale

Birds seen today: Atlantic puffin, Arctic tern, Northern fulmar, Northern gannet, black-legged kittiwake, lesser black-backed gull, great black-backed gull, razorbill, common guillemot, black guillemot, great cormorant, eider duck

Our Whale Watching Tour at 20:00 is ON SCHEDULE! Our earlier tours at 10:00 & 14:00 were unfortunately cancelled due to poor sea conditions earlier in the day.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2026

20:00 - After a day of many cancellations, finally we went out to sea! The swell was high, but the wind dropped significantly, so we we good to go. On our way out to the bay, we stopped by Akurey to check out the Atlantic puffin colony there. At sea, we found big flock of gulls and seabirds all around. Fish was being caught. We were still looking at the birds, when we saw a blow! It was Chopper, the humpback whale. The whale was feeding and it was stinky. It was staying at the surface quite long, breathing 7 to 9 times before diving. This was when we got to admire Chopper's fluke. We stayed with it for a long time and then went to explore the area in hopes of something else. We saw more birds and eventually, returned back to port. What a great midnight trip!
