Whale Diary

16:00 - After a lot of wind during the day, the bay was still a bit bumpy as we headed out this afternoon. However, the sun was shining and everyone on board was hopeful for the tour! Not too long after leaving the harbour, we found a humpback whale. This individual was not moving around too much so we were able to keep track of it fairly easily. We were lucky enough to see its bright white tail multiple times as it went for fluke dives. As we stayed with the whale, the time it was at the surface between dives got shorter and as it was doing ~10 minute dives, we decided to move on eventually and search for something else. We then found a minke whale. It surfaced very close to our boat but we were only able to see the whale once before it disappeared. Unfortunately, we started to run out of time at that point and had to start heading back into the harbour.
