11:00 - Today we went out with the fresh cold Icelandic wind on our faces. Good that we wore as many layers we could and the overalls protected us! Our first encounter of the day was not one, but 2 humpback whales right next to the harbour! They were in between the islands of Engey and Viðey, and we could have a look at them. However, the amount of boats around made us want to go out in the bay to see what Faxaflói had for us! And after travelling for a while, we spotted a continuous splash: a pod of about 12 white-beaked dolphins! They were very curious and came straight next to our boat! They loved when we started speeding up, and they came to bowride, very playful. Some of them were close, but keeping a distance and splashing around a bit to... mate! They were still mating during October, the last ones of the season! Then, we decided to go back to close to the islands, to have a look at those humpbacks again. We took a while to find them, because, although it was a shallow area, they were really taking their time under the surface! But we managed to see them a couple of times, as they led the way to the harbour. Lovely cold morning!
