10:00 - In the morning, we had very nice conditions for sailing with no wind and quite a smooth ocean. We had three boats heading out to enjoy the morning at sea. Two of our boats stopped by Akurey, one of our puffin islands on our way out. We saw plenty of Atlantic puffins all around. The first glimpse of marine wildlife in Faxafloi got us excited for more to come, so we joined our third boat out in the bay. It did not take long until we found 2 humpback whales! We checked out one whale before moving on to the next one and were treated with loads of fluke displays today. Before we had to start turning around, one of the whales graced us with a breach which was incredible to observe! On our way back to the harbour, we also found a group of 4 to 5 harbour porpoises. They were unusually inquisitive and approached our boats briefly. We even managed to hear the sneeze-like sound of their blows as these cute, little cetaceans surfaced right by the boat. The third boat went to check out some puffins by one of our islands as well. Finally, we returned to Reykjavik, very happy about this spectacular trip!
