14:00 - With the sun shining, and the clouds parting to clear blue skies, we applied our sunblock and headed out into the bay. First we stopped by our puffin islands and admired them both on the islands as well as in the water! We had many close flybys and they even allowed us to sail quite close to them, allowing us to really admire their bright orange bills. After a nice viewing, we continued on to see which cetaceans we would spot today. There was a bit of a feeding frenzy, with Northern gannets plunge diving quite close to Engey, to we went to have a look. That was when we spotted the back of one minke whale! This individual surfaced close to our boat multiple times and was bouncing all around us, keeping us on our toes. Suddenly there was another solitary minke whale, which was great as it allowed for multiple surfaces between the two individuals. After a great viewing, we continued onward. We then spotted a blow in the distance and went to check it out. It turned out to be another solitary minke whale! After a couple of surface sequences, we continued. We spotted two more solitary minke whales feeding close to shore. After another great viewing, it was time to head back to port. With 4 minke whales, a great afternoon was found.
