Whale Diary

10:00 - It was a lovely tour this morning. We found, not far from port, a medium sized group of white beaked dolphins, around 7 individuals. They were in their usual playful moods, coming quite close, and doing a few rolls. In the same area, we found later several minke whales. We counted at least 5. The passengers asked many questions and everybody was delighted with the tour.

12:00 - We went out with grey sky, cold temperatures and kind of rough seas, BUT we had a really nice tour. We had to head out to the bay for quite some time until we found our first of around 8 Minke Whales ! Most of them were elusive and didn't show much of themselves and some others surfaced quite often, so we could have a nice look at them. Everyone was happy and so was the crew.

13:00 - What an adventure! First, shortly after leaving port, we found a group of harbour porpoises. We could see at least 5, and they were showing a lot more activity than they normally do. The passengers could get good views and properly check the differences with dolphins. We moved on after that, and, like in the morning, we found several minke whales, around 7 individuals, very active. Then, while we were at it, a passenger surprised everybody on board with a marriage proposal to his partner!! Happily she said yes, and it was a grand and lovely ending to a wonderful tour. These memories will last forever.
