Whale Diary

10:00 - As we set off it was quite cloudy but every so often the sun would creep through. Our ribs went straight out into the heart of the bay in hope of finding cetaceans. On our way out there were so many Atlantic puffins flying around. After not too long travelling we saw a big splash near some of the bigger boats followed by another big splash with a Humpback Whale leaping into the air. We then had to wait a few minutes but the humpback reappeared right between our two ribs. It was really close and we could follow it through the water by watching the white pectoral fins. We stayed with this whale for a bit longer before it stated to travel faster, so we left it be in search of other animals. We saw a couple blows but could never find the cetaceans producing these. So, after a bit of waiting we headed back. We stopped at Akurey and it was incredible how many puffins we could see. There were so many flying, sat on the water and also on the island itself. It was a really cool way to end a nice tour.
