Whale Diary

15:00 - Today we sadly only tour as the weather conditions in the morning weren't favourable. BUT - what a tour it was! We had two boats sailing out, we thought it was going to be quite rainy but in the end it was quite manageable and there was barely any rain - just some splash!. After a quick sail we spotted a few blows on the horizon - a humpback whale! Its sometimes tricky to tell when you see blows if one has moved a big distance or if its a new individual. In total we saw 7- 9 humpback whales. The highlight was one duo that came very close to our boats. So we turned our engines off and enjoyed. Both came extremely close, showing their fluke and even spyhopping. It seemed like they were taking turns between boats and it was a truly magical moment. At the same time a rainbow appeared making the magic feel even realer. One boat also saw a Minke Whale surface once, before dissapearing again. We then spotted some bigger splashes in the distance, 'twas a tail-lobbing humpback. We were starting to be pressed for time but headed over anyways and then found a trio of humpbacks. These were much calmer and we were happy to see Neila and Pep again and a mystery guest who we still need to figure out if we know. We stayed as long as we could eventually having to head back to harbour, again with rainbow and sunset!
