00 - After an extremely wet day yesterday, the rain had finally stopped this morning and as we headed out into the bay, we had beautiful calm seas that were perfect for whale watching. It didn't take us long to spot the first blow ahead of us! Over the whole tour we saw at least 5/6 humpback whales and managed to see 3 of them up close! The two whales were very relaxed, swimming slowly at the surface and taking many breaths. This meant that we were able to see them both quite a lot. They both also showed us their flukes a few times so we could see the unique patterns on the underneath side. When we were starting to leave the second humpback, the third one suddenly breached high into the air! It was just once but it was incredible! We followed this individual to see if it would jump again but instead it started to move a lot faster through the water, maybe feeding underneath the surface. It was a great tour full of different behaviours from the humpbacks and our second boat also saw a pod of around 7 white-beaked dolphins so there was plenty of life out in the bay today!

00 - We sailed out and were completely in awe by how calm the sea was. It looked like a sheet of silk that we were gliding over. After a quick stop at Akurey, where we saw multitudes of puffins, we headed further out into the bay. Not long after we spotted 2 harbour porpoises. Usually they can be a little tricky to see as they look tiny from the boat, however due to the calm sea conditions we were able to see them very clearly. At the same time we spotted a pod of 6 white beaked dolphins, all quite calm and travelling. We then headed further out and found a minke whale. It then turned out to be two, which was great as we could see one on each side. We stayed a little and then headed further, and found a great spot where it seemed to be full of life again! There was 3 humpback whales, one that was quite close that came up a few times but seemed to be less interested so we continued to the other one. This one was much friendlier and seemingly huge. There was a moment it was so silent we heard multiple blows in the distance of all species. During the time our humpback was going for a longer dive, we encountered a large pod of dolphins probably 15 strong. After an amazing time at sea, we did have to make our way back home. This was truly a magical tour.

00 - We had high hopes due to the quantity of wildlife this morning in the bay, and this tour did not disappoint at all, both our boats that went out saw at least 6 different humpback whales during these 2 hours of speed and fun through the flat waters of the bay. We got incredibly lucky, we could navigate through a lot of the whales around, even saw a pair and could observe a lot of beautiful tails as they went down for a deeper dive. It was an incredible tour and the last whale even had a white beaked dolphin playing on top of it. And actually this last humpback, Emily and I recognized it, it was Davy Jones. And we know Davy Jones can be extra curious at times ... and he did not disappoint, he went down .. and lifted its fluke from the water to the air by our vessel, agitating it right by us. I had never seen before from a while, afterwards it slowly circled our rib, truly amazing. It went later to the other rib and inspected it by the engine, going slowly and breathing right by the back of the vessel. It was great. On our way back home we even saw 2 pods of 3 harbour porpoises, what a tour.

00 - We had barely any wind and very calm seas this afternoon, setting the perfect conditions for a potentially incredible tour. And what a tour it was! We saw no less than 5 humpback whales on this tour, 3 of them were hanging out together, spending lots of playful time at the surface as they were often rolling around and we even managed to spot one of them breach! The two other humpback whales were spending their time by themselves, but managed to treat us to multiple nice and high fluke dives. Time flew by this tour and eventually we had to sail back, still mind boggled by this afternoon´s spectacle in the bay!

00 -With sunshine and calm seas you couldn´t ask for a more perfect setting to start our whale watching adventure. We started by taking a look at our Atlantic puffin colony and admiring how many were out on the water. We then went out into the bay and had an incredible evening. In total, we saw 7 humpback whales! We started with two feeding together and then we saw one in the distance tail slapping so we went to see what that one was up to. One minke whale was also in the area, though was elusive, as per usual. We had breaching, tail slapping, pectoral slapping and flukes galore! At points in the evening everywhere you looked we were surrounded by humpback whales. With flukes galore and even some rolling, you really could not ask for more. We also had a pod of 7 white beaked dolphins. They were really curious and came multiple times to do some ´boat inspections.´ They even kept jumping and did not want us to leave for as we waved goodbye they started to bow ride! What an amazing way to end a fabulous day on the ribs!
