Birds seen today: Herring gull, black-headed gull, northern gannet, northern fulmar, common guillemot, eider duck

10:00 - It was windy in the harbour this morning but the sea conditions were actually alright. It was easy to move around the bay. The sky was quite cloudy and the sea very dark but we managed to see a lot! We first spotted a minke whale that was not very easy to observe and after that it was just constant observations. In total we saw 8-10 minke whales, some of them from very close. They were feeding in a large area and we could recognize humpie, a well known minke whale of Faxafloi. We also spotted 2 pods of 5-7 white-beaked dolphins, also feeding in the area, moving fast and turning to get to eat some fish. There was not a lot of bird we we still had the wonderful show of gannets plunge-diving. A very successful morning.

14:00 - The bay was full of animals today! We started the tour with many sightings of minke whales; we could see individuals all over the area, some from far away while others came up right next to the boat. We moved a bit further North and spotted a pod of surface-active harbour porpoises, who led us to an area with white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins seemed to be travelling (with a few more inquisitive individuals getting distracted by the boats and coming up to check us out). Suddenly, they started swimming at top speed and we decided to wave goodbye to the dolphins. We saw a couple more minke whales before we headed back to Reykjavik.
