15:00 - Third times the charm! As we headed out into Faxaflói, still cold and windy, two harbour porpoises briefly made an appearance as they swam through the swell. We had barely sailed past the harbour walls when we spotted two humpback whales logging at the surface. They were so close to land, they could've practically been inside the harbour! They dove once, and stayed under for quite some time. As we had more area to cover, we decided to leave this pair be and head out in search for more whales and once again headed to the same area we had been in the morning. Like clockwork, a pair of humpback whales surfaced next to us.. but they had a third whale in tow! These three were surfing the waves, one rolled over twice and another even gave us a breathtaking tail-throw! After we admired these whales for some time, we decided to head back and see if we could spot the other pair by the harbour. Sure enough, as we got back, there they were, and we got a beautiful finish to an already amazing day as we said goodbye to them and returned to land.
