Whale Diary

10:00 - This morning we set sail into a gloomy scene, there was a bit of rain and the mountains were snow-capped. It all looked very picturesque and we were exited to see what the day would hold. We sailed around the bay a bit trying to spot blows and bodies and then found a pod of 4 white beaked dolphins. These started off a little calm but soon got very active and were swimming all around us. We stayed with them for a bit and they were also following us! We eventually were joined by another pod of ~7, this one was even more active jumping around us as well. We then continued onwards and once again found another pod of 5 dolphins! This one was a bit more widespread and tricky but also came extremely close hanging around the front of our boat. We then headed back to harbour as time was up.

13:00 - The weather conditions were rainy and a little rough sea, but our guests were keen to see some ocean wildlife! We had to look around for a while, before we found a very shy Minke Whale, after that we saw a big pod of around 10 White Beaked Dolphins ! They were on fire! They were jumping, they were surfing in our bow wave, they were swimming underneath our boat and interacting with their pod members. It was amazing. But time flew, so we had to head back to harbor. But on the way back we found another slightly smaller pod of Dolphins, so we decided to stop again and enjoy, the last minutes that we had, with them. It was a great tour despite the rough weather.

15:00 - We sailed out in the rain for quite a while, when we spotted a fluke print on the water surface. So we waited a little bit for it to surface again, which it did, it was a Minke Whale. Unfortunately it didn't come back up a second time, so we kept going. On our way, we saw another Minke but just very shortly. As we kept going we saw a few Harbor Porpoises which were very cute and another quick Minke Whale. Because we only had a few quick glimse at the animals we decided to give complimentary tickets.
