Whale Diary

11:00 - Today we sailed out into a gloomy wet bay, with our sense of adventure we ventured out into the unknown. It only took us a short sail to find a pod of white beaked dolphins! The pod was tricky to count but was probably between 10-15. They were swimming quite actively around us, some close and some far! They were all on the curious and playful side and came extremely close to the boat! They were jumping around us as well and in the midst of all this we then saw a big blow! Two humpback whales surfaced right next to us! These two were very calm individuals. They would come up a few times before going for a deeper dive. It seemed they were resting but the resting then soon turned to playfulness. One came up right next to us, then rolled around showing us its belly! It was truly a magical moment. They the went for a longer dive, this time showing its gorgeous white fluke. We stayed a bit longer with them as they were waking up before running out of time and heading home.
