10:00 - The skies were cloudy but there was barely any wind and small waves this morning. After some searching around, we found a pod of about 5 white-beaked dolphins swimming nearby. We got some very close looks at them as some of them curiously came very close to the boat at times. Besides that we could even see them bowriding some of the larger boats! Eventually, we went onwards and encountered 3 humpback whales swimming closely to each other! They all seemed very relaxed as they spent a lot of time at the surface, only diving for mere minutes. We stuck around with these guys until it was finally time for us to head back to Reykjavik.
13:00 - This afternoon the sun came peaking through and both the wind and waves had settled even a bit more compared to the morning. On this trip we encountered a minke whale, which we got to see surface multiple times until it finally disappeared. Shortly after though, we found a duo of humpback whales swimming together. On multiple occasions we got to see them surface incredibly close to our boat and they treated us to multiple elegant fluke dives, never diving down for too long. Eventually, we gave them some peace and quiet and happily sailed back into port.
15:00 - We went out with nice conditions, the sea was calm and the temperature refreshingly cold. We had to head out a little, before we saw the first cetaceans. A pod of 8 Harbor Porpoises. They were showing off really nicely and often. Then we left them in peace after a while. So we kept going and found 2 Humpback Whales. The same like from the tours before. :) Neila and Pep. They were very calm and resting, when they decided to come very close to us, they were coming to our stern and looking at us from underneath the boat and then spyhopping a little further away. After a while we had to leave them aswell, because we ran out of time. We also were lucky enough to see 2 Minke Whales surfacing a few times. What a great tour.
