20:00 - In the evening, we ventured out full of excitement as the waves had calmed down a little, making it possible for us to head out for our only whale watching tour of the day. We considered cancelling this one too, but we were very glad we did not have to. As we headed out we stopped by our local Atlantic puffin colony on Akurey. The light made these little guys almost look like they are part of a painting. Then, we went in search of whales! We still had a little motion in the ocean, but the sun was shining down beautifully through the clouds reflecting on the water, and there were plenty of puffins flying along as we soared through the waves. That's when a tall big blow appeared in the distance ahead! As we got closer we discovered that it was a humpback whale that was diving at very short intervals, frequently surfacing in different directions. We had some beautiful and close encounters, being lucky to see the fluke several times in front of us as the whale caught momentum to dive down. With the light of the midnight sun, the whale was cast in an orange glow making the whole experience even more magical. On the way back we were still processing the breathtaking moments we got to experience out at sea. Wow, wow, WOW!
