Species seen today: Humpback whale, minke whale

Today was a great day of whale watching and showed how different tours can be within the same day. Sea conditions remained consisitent throughout the day with a bit of wind making the water a little choppy but still enjoyable. In the morning, we went out with one boat and saw two humpbacks and two minke whales. The humpbacks were a little elusive and went for long deep dives but one of the minkes came very close to our boat a couple of times. In the afternoon, we had two sold out boats! The number of humpbacks in the bay had increased since the morning tour and as we were heading out, we heard mulitple reports from other whale watching boats. By the end of the tour we saw a total of 3 or 4 humpbacks, one of which gave us quite a show! This individual breached once, and then tail lobbed, pec slapped and tail slapped for a while after. All these humpbacks were interspersed with sightings of multiple minkes as well. All in all, an excellent day!
