Species seen today: Humpback whales
10:00 - We motored out of Reykjavik harbour with overcast skies and calm seas, however once we got out of the shelter of the city we started to feel the southwesterly winds and westerly swells. We took it slowly towards our classic whale watching vessel that were watching two humpback whales, our favourit duo Mariupol and Neila. They were super curious of the boats and we could see Neila spyhopping and flipper slapping and really couldn´t get closer to the vessels. Eventually they got board and started to travel more to the southwest. They were super relaxed and we could follow them quite closely without disturbing them. It was much easier on the way home, lensing with the waves and swell. A wonder morning for sightings but difficult sea conditions.
Crew - Captain Megan and Guide Miquel.
14:00 - Unfortunately the wind and swell increased too much to deem it safe to go out into the bay so we decided to cancel the 14:00 tour.
