09:00 - We were very excited to head into the bay today after hearing about the whales from yesterdays adventures. It started off quite rough with slightly windy conditions and short waves in the shallower waters. Soon we got into a nice motion and we had a great ride out. It took us 20 minutes to find our first whales, a pair of humpback whales accompanied by a small pod of 3-4 white beaked dolphins. We also saw another 2 humpback blows in the distance. Suddenly though it was like they just vanished. We waited and waited but they were gone. We continued on a large flock of feeding birds, gannets and guillemots mainly and one by one at least 4 solitary minke whales surfaced feeding on the bounty of food in the area. Time pasted fast then and we need to head home. Another pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins were encountered and we have a very, very quick stop at one of the puffin islands where there were hundreds sitting on the water and on the island. The weather was calming down to so the ride home was alot smoother.

12:00 - We headed straight out to where a couple of whale watching boats were waiting for a pair of humpbacks (seen earlier on), we came to the area and waited for a while too but we gave up and continued heading towards flocks of feeding gannets in the distance. We did find an area of about 3-4 minke whales which was nice and staryed there for a while. about an hour into the tour, after some searching, we found a humpback whale, then suddenly a pair showed up then another individual. 4 if not 5 humpback whales suddenly were around us. Its always so crazy how quickily nature changes. One, badly scarred whale (orca or net scarring) surfaced super close and started feeding next to the boat, using bubbles and underwater fluke slaps to herd/stun the food. It was absolutely amazing to see. So chilled coming right up next to us on may occasions. 1 lonely white- beaked dolphin came to say hello in the area too. Came, said hello and left. Another amazing day on the bay of Faxafloi. Oh I forgot.... Loads of PUFFINS!! too
