10:00- The bay was beautifully calm and in the low light conditions we were perfectly able to see the dark backs of probably ten pods of harbour porpoises. The porpoises surfaced quickly and disappeared even faster, so we went further out to search for larger animals. We spotted the fluke of a humpback whale in the distance and when we approached the area we could see this individual was feeding. A while later we went out to another individual that had been spotted by other boats in the area. This smaller humpback whale was logging at the surface, but after some time it seemed to have fallen asleep underwater as it didn´t come up for approximately 10 minutes. While we waited for this one, in the distance we also saw the back of a third humpback whale and we went to inspect that individual. When the third humpback whale travelled in the direction of the second humpback, we got the chance to have a last look at both of them before heading home.

14:00 - Back on the bay for more adventures! We went first to see the Atlantic puffins on Akurey island. We approached to the island to see the thousands of puffins already here for their breeding season. We left further out going in the same areas than this morning to see if we could spot blows from whales. They were not exactly in the same area but moving a bit away we found a humpback whale! We saw it a few times, once close to us on our side. We continued when we saw two blows in the distance. Once reaching the area we saw on more blow and then nothing anymore those animals seemingly going on a long dive. We spotted a porpoise that came near us a few times. We moved thinking maybe we could find the first humpback whale when we saw the pair of humpback surfacing on our right. We could see that one of them was particularly big going for a beautiful fluke dive showing us its tail. After that we could find these humpback one more time before we had to leave to the harbour.
