Whale Diary

11:00 - Today is a bright sunny day in Reykjavik, however, the wind hasn't fully left us yet! We left the harbour on two boats with a plan to search the common areas while keeping our passengers as comfortable as possible in the bumpy waves. We headed north towards Akranes and found a large flock of birds feeding but after waiting a few minutes, no cetaceans arrived to feed with them. We then turned and headed out towards the centre of Faxafloi. As we sailed on we saw more and more birds, all being very active and feeding a lot. We heard on the radio, that we were in an area where a humpback whale had been seen. We searched and searched and eventually saw the blows! However, with the waves it was very difficult to follow. We were able to see the whale again very briefly and soon ran out of time. Due to our sightings not being the best, we offered all our passengers complimentary tickets to return on a Classic tour for free.
