10:00- Conditions at the start of the day were fine with a steady south easterly wind blowing that grew as the day progressed. Both boats journeyed in a westerly direction to a spot were we have been very successful in recent days. The spot did not disappoint as multiple humpback whales were seen once again. First, we spent some time with a lone whale that appeared to be transitting through the bay towards the city, moving quickly when out of sight and lifting its fluke upon diving. After watching this individual for a short while, we turned our attention to more blows one or two kilometres in the distance. When we arrived, we could see three humpbacks tightly packed together and moving slowly in a very calm manner. The whales provided easy photo opportunities for the lucky guests onboard. On the way home, one boat caught a glimpse of white-beaked dolphins and both saw scattered groups of harbour porpoises.
