10:00 - We quickly got dressed and headed to Engey island home for thousands of puffins for a close look to. Beautiful moments enjoying them resting beside their burrows .On our way towards the open waters we came across a pot of 3 harbour porpoises we stayed with them for a little while. As always they were elusive so we carried on further out to search for something bigger. It didn't took long until we came across three humpback whales cruising in the same area. After a while they stopped altogether and began checking out our boat. They were calm and curious, interacting with us spy-hopping, rolling, and pectoral- slapping right next to the boat, It was an incredible experience, one we´ll remember forever.
We stayed with the whales for the entire remained of the tour tour truly an unforgettable and spectacular encounter. Afterwards, we returned to port with the biggest smiles feeling absolutely thrilled.

12:00 - The sea was flat and there was almost no wind as we went out under an overcast sky. Perfect conditions to find some massive mammals out on Faxaflói bay. We just had passed the isle of Grótta as we spotted the elegant body of a fast traveling minke whale not far from our boat. We managed to see him on the surface another time before he disappeared. But that was not much of an disappointment as we spotted the blows of a pair of humpback whales just a few hundred meters further out. We wet closer and as we turned off the motors of our boat the whales surfaced mere meters away from our boat. They traveled slowly and showed us their impressive flukes as they went for longer dives. We continued after we spend a few minutes with these two, just to find another pair of humpbacks! This time one of them could be identified as our long known and loved Davy Jones II. One of our "fat celebrities". Again we spend a good time with them just to see jet another pair of humpbacks heading towards our direction! Wit a total of 6 humpback whales and one minke whale sighted we can most certainly count this as a very successful tour!

14:00 - We sailed out under culm seas and cloudy skies straight towards the open waters. After the first ten miles we found ourselves in an area with four humpback whales. It was an amazing finding that became even better when all of them gathered together and were cruising towards the same direction. it was a truly breathtaking experience. Later we continued our search and came across tree minke whales that were feeding together. Close by we spotted some blows and we when to investigate. Indeed they we three humpback whales that surprised us with there size and treated us with some beautiful fluke dives.
After this amazing encounters we went to Akurey island. More than twenty thousand couples of puffins go to bread on this island and we were enjoyed them flying around and resting nest to there borrows.

16:00 - The wind had picked up a little bit since we went out for our last tour but the ride was still smooth. After a while one of our guests spotted a minke whale right in front of us. We tried to stay with him but again this fast and shy whale decided to rather disappear. We went on and soon saw the huge splashes of a humpback whale breaching. Exited to see such an active animal we went in the direction of the action. Of course, as we got there, the animal had stopped its spectacular behavior and returned to frequent diving and feeding. We saw a lot of bubbles rising close to our boat indicating the animal actively using its bubble net technique to corral the fish. An absolute mesmerizing experience to see from mere meters away. On our way back we also came across a small pod of around 6 white-beaked dolphins. These normally playful guys were not in the mood to get close to our boat and so we continued back to the harbor, happy after such a successful tour.

20:00 - The waters were incredibly calm this evening, while the whales were anything but calm. Our first sighting was a brief one, featuring a traveling minke whale. Then, we entered the realm of the humpback whales - at least ten of them. We saw two pairs of humpbacks feeding in the same area, more blows on the horizon, jumping white-beaked dolphins in the distance, more minke whales passing through, and ended with a group of three more humpback whales. While some of the humpbacks came really close to the boat, others showed us some lunge-feeding behaviour, and all of them showed their flukes countless times. 10 out of 10!
