Species seen today: minke whale, white-beaked dolphins

The wind calmed down, allowing us to go searching for cetaceans. There was still light wind, but not strong enough to make the sea choppy. There was a bit of long swell, which made the boat ride even more fun! Our first encounter was with a smaller group of white-beaked dolphins (approx. 4-6 individuals). We managed to have a good look of them, although they seemed to want to be left by themselves, so we continued our way. After a bit of ride further out, we found a place with few individuals of minke whales. They were feeding, displaying irregular dives, and changing their direction, but we managed to see them nicely. One even lunge fed quite close to us! In the afternoon, the wind had decreased but the swell had gotten higher giving us a real roller-coaster of a ride! We headed out and soon found a pod of dolphins which was the first of 3 pods that we saw on the trip. Each pod was a little different with some coming close to the boat and other keeping their distance. We also had a few glimpses of minke whales but these individuals were busy feeding and didn't have much time for us.
