Whale Diary

09:00 - The sea state this morning was calm and the skies had some big cumulonimbus clouds that gave a lot of rain. Thought throw-out our the hole tour we had no rain we were chasing the clear skies. The first sighting this morning was a pot of six wight beaked dolphins that came really few times surprised us by coming right next to our boat being playful around as. After this amassing show we continued further our and came across another pot of four wight beaked dolphins that they weren´t that curious of our existence and we continued our way until we stopped a blow! It was a big humpback whale  that made us really exited. This individual treated us with many fluke dives and stayed always close to us and left us speechless with its enormous size. After this beautiful encounter we started our way back all of us dry, happy and full of nice stories to share.

12:00 - Similar conditions than this morning with a small shower of rain during the tour. We had a first sighting with 2 minke whales that were a bit tricky to spot. We continued further out until we saw the blow of a whale. It was 2 humpback whales that were surfacing. Right next to them appeared another minke whale that crossed their path. The humpbacks were very calm and we could slowly approach and watch them gently swim. They were not diving always staying close to the surface. One time they appeared right next to our boat very very close, we could admire the white pectoral fin through the water. We left them alone so they can continue to rest quietly. A bit further we spotted a pod of 8-10 white-beaked dolphins. They were swimming close to each other also very calm with a beautiful rainbow in the background. Sometimes one was surfacing close to our boat but they didn't seem very curious about us. It was really nice to see them all appear at the same time, their white beak piercing the surface of the sea. We continued our tour further south where we saw 3 more white beaked dolphins. It was time to go home so we came back enjoying a nice comfortable sail. A lovely tour!
