Species seen today: minke whales, white-beaked dolphins

Today the weather was a bit miserable, we had non-stop rain all day but this didn't stop us from going out whale watching as the sea conditions were amazing. Flat seas meant that we could brave the rain and our crew and passengers donned their suits to head out into the bay. Our courage was rewarded all day as both tours encountered minke whales and white-beaked dolphins. The minke whales were busy feeding on the abundant fish that we could see clearly on the fish finders on board our boats. A few came close to the boat though giving us a good view of their back as they came to the surface to breathe. The pods of dolphins that we encountered during the day were a little interested in us but most of the pods had young calves with them so were being a little more protective than usual and kept a distance from us. Overall, still an amazing day out on the water. Well worth going out in the rain!
