Torfi is the owner of Whale Safari, and is involved with many of the most successful tourism companies in Iceland. Torfi has worked in the outdoor guiding industry for his entire adult life, having founded Arctic Adventures, Glacier Guides, Arctic Rafting, Reykjavík Sightseeing, Airport Direct, and others, working as a guide for almost two decades.
